ATP: Struff reaches quarter-finals in Budapest

Jan-Lennard Struff has reached the quarter-finals of the ATP tournament in Budapest and has thus reached the last eight for the first time since October 2017 in Vienna.

The seventh seeded Warsteiner beat Kazakh Alexander Bublik 6-1, 6-4 in the round of 16 and will now face Marco Cecchinato of Italy, who won 6-3, 6-1 against Damir Dzumhur (Bosnia and Herzegovina/No. 2).

On Wednesday, Maximilian Marterer (Nuremberg) and Yannick Maden (Stuttgart) will play in a direct duel to reach the quarter-finals in Budapest.

The 27-year-old Struff had some difficulties against Bublik, number 143 in the world and thus 82 places lower than the German, after winning the first set effortlessly only in the middle of the second round. But after trailing 2-4, he found his way back to the track and turned his first match point after 59 minutes.
