ATP: Dominic Thiem no chance against Stefanos Tsitsipas in Barcelona

Smooth defeat for Dominic Thiem in the quarter-finals of the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Barcelona: The Austrian lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas 3:6 and 2:6

After a good start Dominic Thiem had to admit defeat to a great Stefanos Tsitsipas. The 19-year-old Greek needed a little more than 80 minutes to win his third duel with Austria’s number one for the first time.

Thiem started with a break, had another chance at the serve of Tsitsipas for 3-0 – and after the 3:1 in the first set should only be able to book two games for himself. The youngster was far more offensive than the favourite, who only lost to Rafael Nadal in the final in 2017.

Thiem had won the first two duels with Tsitsipas: At the beginning of the year in Doha in two, a few weeks later in Indian Wells in three sets. Tsitsipas will now face Pablo Carreno Busta and Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-final.
