ATP: Barcelona: Nadal makes short work of Goffin

Rafael Nadal has reached the final of the ATP-500 Barcelona tournament. He did not give David Goffin a chance after a hesitant start.

Nadal took twelve of the next fourteen games after trailing 0:2 – 6:4, 6:0 after 1 hour and 22 minutes of play. Nadal had eleven break chances, five of which he used; Goffin only scored 29 percent on second serve.

The victory was Nadal’s 400th success on clay, 44 sets in a row he has now won on his favourite surface.

In the final he meets Stefanos Tsitsipas from Greece. The 19-year-old, who won against Dominic Thiem on Friday, won against five seeded Pablo Carreno Busta 7-5, 6-3 and is thus on the ATP tour in his first final – which he achieved without losing a set. Regardless of the final result, he will be among the world’s top 50 for the first time on Monday.
