WTA: Interplay continues: Kerber ahead of Görges again

The interplay between Angelique Kerber (30) and Julia Görges (29) in the tennis world ranking continues. After the WTA tournament in Stuttgart, Kerber climbed to eleventh place in the ranking and replaced Görges, who follows in twelfth place, again as Germany’s number one.

Kerber (Kiel) had given up at the home game in the Porsche Arena in the round of 16 due to a thigh injury, Görges (Bad Oldesloe) was eliminated in the first round.

There were no shifts in the top 10, the Romanian Simona Halep remains in the lead ahead of Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark). Stuttgart winner Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) follows in sixth place.

Australian Open winner Caroline Wozniacki leads the Porsche Race to Singapore, the annual classification that qualifies for the WTA season finale, ahead of Halep. Kerber is on position three in these charts, Görges on position twelve. The eighth place, which still leads to a place in Singapore, is currently occupied by the Belgian Elise Mertens.
