WTA: Petkovic and Witthöft eliminated in round one – Korpatsch in the round of 16

German tennis players Andrea Petkovic and Carina Witthöft were eliminated in the first round of the WTA tournament in Prague. Former top-10 player Petkovic lost to eighth seed local hero Katerina Siniakova 2-6, 6-7 (4-7), Witthöft lost 4-6, 4-6 to Natalia Wichljanzewa (Russia).

Tamara Korpatsch, who lost to Patty Schnyder in the qualifying final but slipped into the main field as Lucky Loser, reached the round of 16. The 22-year-old won her first round match against the French Oceane Dodin with 6:2, 7:5.

In addition, from a German perspective, titleholder Mona Barthel and qualifier Antonia Lottner will be represented at the 250,000 dollar tournament, who will face off in a direct duel in the first round on Tuesday (11.00 a.m.).
