WTA: Prague: Lottner wins first round of the year against Barthel

Antonia Lottner (Düsseldorf) won the German duel against Mona Barthel (Neumünster) and celebrated her first first round victory of the year on the WTA Tour.

At the start of the $250,000 clay court tournament in Prague on Tuesday, after 1:19 hours and the first match point, the 21-year-old won 6:0, 7:5. Lottner took advantage of six of her eleven break chances. She will face Mihaela Buzarnescu (Romania/No. 7) in the round of 16.

Fed Cup player Lottner, number 158 in the world, is the second German in the round of the last 16 days before Tamara Korpatsch (Hamburg) had eliminated the Frenchwoman Oceane Dodin in Prague. Andrea Petkovic (Darmstadt) and Carina Witthöft (Hamburg), however, were eliminated.
