Usually it doesn’t bode well when the police get you off the street. But if one is called Kristina Mladenovic…
Tatü-tata, la policía is here!
Kristina Mladenovic and her driver had a small shock moment in Madrid when they were waved out of traffic by the local police. But no way, driving at excessive speed – no: The two policemen were obviously fans of the French woman and just wanted a photo.
In Madrid itself, Mladenovic has a lot to defend: At the Premier Mandatory Tournament (starting May 6), the 24-year-old scored a proud 650 points with last year’s run to the final. After her anti-run from August 2017 to February 2018, when she lost 15 matches in a row, she has to score well in the next weeks to prevent a crash in the ranking. She is currently ranked 22nd, with a match record of 10 victories and 12 defeats in 2018.
Most recently, Mladenovic (also as last year’s finalist) lost to Anett Kontaveit in round one at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart – and that with 6:7 in the third set. Keep your fingers crossed that Madrid’s winning streak will continue during the tournament!
