Alexander Peya and his Croatian partner Nikola Mektic will play against Rajeev Ram and Ivan Dodig in Munich on Sunday (11:30 am) for his 18th double title on the ATP tour.

Alexander Peya and Nicola Mektic did not do particularly intensive opponent scouting on Saturday at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament: While Tim Pütz and Jan-Lennard Struff fought with Rajeev Ram and Ivan Dodig for the second place in the final (with the better end for the latter), Peya/Mektic trained quite relaxed on the showcourt at MTTC Iphitos.
The Austrian routine had earned the break. Early Friday evening Court 1 also faced his old partner Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo, the leaders in the ATP double world rankings. Peya/Mektic lost set one smoothly, but then really fought their way into the match, won the second set despite lost chances and then also the match tie-break.
Kubot finished the match with a double mistake, in front of Alexander Zverev, who kept his fingers crossed for his buddy Marcelo Melo. The support for Alexander Peya was at least as great, however, and the Austrian came to Munich with his wife Natascha and his two children.
So on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. we’re going against Dodig and Ram, the two seeders. Peya won the title in Shenzen with Ram in 2017 and one in Marrakech with Mektic this season. In the Doubles Race to London Peya/Mektic will definitely take fourth place, Struff and Ben McLachlan competed in different venues this week.
Alexander Peya, who is 38th in the current double world rankings, has 17 tournament victories.
