ATP: Zverev continues third, “Kohli” makes leap forward

Large shifts in the ATP world rankings were not to be expected last week. After all, something has changed in the double-year ranking.

Alexander Zverev has won the title in Munich for the second time in a row – this helps the career record of Germany’s number one, 250 points are also added in the “Race to London”. In the “regular” world rankings, on the other hand, Zverev has only met his target, confidently defending the points he won last year.

For Philipp Kohlschreiber, the entry into the final already had a major impact: The native of Augsburg made a leap to 28th place, also important with regard to a seat at the French Open.

Rafael Nadal continues to lead the ranking ahead of Roger Federer and Zverev, Dominic Thiem is in seventh place – but has to defend a final in Madrid this week. No easy matter, if Thiem met Nadal in the quarter-finals.

In the Race to London there were no shifts in the top eight places – here Federer leads ahead of Juan Martin del Potro and Nadal. Zverev is fifth, Thiem would have to make up three places for another final qualification at the moment.

In the doubles classification Nikola Mektic and Alexander Peya swapped positions with Jan-Lennard Struff and Ben McLachlan: Peya/Mektic are now in fourth place in the Doubles Race, which is led by Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic. The latter pairing is pausing in Madrid, Peya/Mektic (against Kevin Anderson and Max Mirnyi) as well as Struff/McLachlan (against John Isner and Jack Sock).
