ATP: Gojowczyk enters the second round in Rome

Peter Gojowczyk (28) has reached the second round at the ATP Masters in Rome. The world ranking-52nd from Munich prevailed against the American Sam Querrey 6:2, 7:6 (9:7), who was seeded in position twelve, at the beginning of the sand court tournament endowed with more than five million euros.

In round two Gojowczyk will meet local hero Lorenzo Sonego.

Next to Gojowczyk, titleholder Alexander Zverev (Hamburg) and Philipp Kohlschreiber (Augsburg) are in the main field in Rome. The tournament in Foro Italico is the last endurance test before the French Open in Paris (from 27 May), especially for the top stars around sand court king Rafael Nadal.
