ATP: Rome: Rafael Nadal back on the winning road

Rafael Nadal won his opening match at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome. Against Damir Dzumhur the Spaniard showed himself in his usual sovereign manner and only gave away one game in the 6:1, 6:0 victory.

Nadal provided clear conditions early in the game when he took the serve off his opponent in his first two service games. Only at the score of 0:5 from Dzumhur’s point of view the man from Bosnia-Herzegovina managed to win the game.

After exactly one hour, however, Nadal’s opening victory was perfect. The Mallorcan again showed himself to be in outstanding form on the clay court in Rome and seems to have taken the defeat against Dominic Thiem of last week well away.
