ATP Rome: Marin Cilic reaches the semi-finals

Marin Cilic is in the semi-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Rome. In the quarter-finals, the Croatian did not give Spanish sand court specialist Pablo Carreno Busta a chance.

Right from the start, the fifth in the world rankings took control of the game and acted with his flat and hard basic strokes concentrated and focused from the baseline.

Cilic surprised his opponent with occasional trips to the net and did not let Carreno Busta get into the game. A break for the 4:2 lead was enough for the newly married Croatian to win the set.

The second round did not start optimally for Carreno Busta. The Spaniard immediately got back into predicament and had to give up his serve. Cilic remained greedy and kept up the pressure on Carreno Busta throughout the match.

After only 66 minutes, Cilic turned his first match point into a 6-3 and 6-3 victory.
