Sebastian Ofner reaches semi-final in Lisbon: ATP Challenger

Sebastian Ofner has reached the semi-finals of the ATP Challenger in Lisbon. The 22-year-old was in strong form on the sand in the Portuguese capital during his 6-4, 7-5 victory over Serb Miomir Kecmanovic and now meets a great veterinarian.

On Friday afternoon Ofner secured the first set after 51 minutes with a break to 4:3. In the second round he was already leading 3:2, but had to accept the re-break immediately.

At 4-5, the Wimbledon 2017 sixteenth finalist had to fend off three set points, but in the game he then suffered the decisive service loss of his opponent.

Ofner started the tournament week against a young local hero. The Portuguese Tiago Cacao was no stumbling block, however, Ofner won 6:0, 6:3.

In round two, he played Mitchell Krueger from the USA 6-3, 6-4. For Ofner, the result on the Iberian Peninsula is the best result since his semi-final entry at the Challenger in Eckental last November.
