ATP: Qualifier Köpfer loses in Geneva

Dominik Köpfer also missed his first victory in the main field of an ATP tournament in the second attempt. The native of the Black Forest, who has lived and studied in the USA for years, lost 3:6, 4:6 against the Argentinian Guido Pella in Geneva, where Köpfer (24) had played his way through the qualification as he did last year at Winston-Salem.

In addition to the number 249 in the world rankings, experienced riders Florian Mayer (Bayreuth) and Peter Gojowczyk (Munich) will also be on duty on Whit Monday from a German perspective. Last year’s eighth seeded finalist Mischa Zverev (Hamburg) lost to Mirza Basic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) 7:5, 3:6, 4:6 and thus won his ninth opening defeat this year.
