French Open: Next cancellation – Hyeon Chung also announces the end of Paris

Australian Open semi-finalist Hyeon Chung will not compete in Roland Garros.

No repetition of the last major sensation: Hyeon Chung, who surprisingly made it to the semi-finals in Melbourne (and had to give up because of blisters on his foot against Roger Federer), has cancelled the French Open.

After the cancellation for Lyon, he also had to cancel Roland Garros, Chung wrote on Twitter. “I’ve had ankle problems throughout the clay court season. An MRI has now shown that fluid has formed in the joint, therefore a small operation and a pause are necessary. Thanks to everyone for their support. I hope to be back in full strength soon,” continued the 22-year-old.

Last week Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Milos Raonic had already cancelled for Paris. Also the starts of Juan Martin del Potro and Nick Kyrgios do not seem to be completely certain yet.
