ATP: Dominic Thiem looks very closely

Dominic Thiem made good use of his day break in Lyon – and took a closer look at the company of his work equipment. Today from 6 pm he will continue – you can watch his match live on DAZN!

On Tuesday Dominic Thiem had no problems with the Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena. 6-2, 6-4 in the end, together with the walk-through in round one, this meant the quarter-final entry in the 250cc event.

It also meant a day off – which Thiem used with coach Günter Bresnik for a sightseeing event of a different kind.

Today the Lichtenwörther will face Guillermo Garcia-Lopez – perhaps with a little more confidence in his racket – and his match will start at 6 pm (live on DAZN); Thiem won the only comparison of the two so far in three rounds at the French Open 2016.

Thiem thinks a lot of Lyon anyway. “It’s the follow-up tournament to Nice, and I won it twice,” said Thiem before the tournament and referred to his victories in 2015 and 2016, a second tournament victory in 2018, after the triumph in Buenos Aires and the mostly strong performances in recent weeks… it would be a fine thing for the world’s number eight before the French Open.
