Service: French Open favourites check: Nadal unstoppable, Halep victorious this time

The French Open 2018 is coming up and in Paris the stars of the ATP and WTA tour are fighting for the big triumph in Roland Garros. But who has the best chances at the second Grand Slam of the year? Betting provider mybet does the Favoriencheck.

In the men’s singles, it is not necessary to discuss for long who will start the race for the title as the clear number one. Rafael Nadal is on mission “Undécima” and wants to celebrate triumph number eleven in the Stade Roland Garros.

The world number one already showed during the clay court masters, which makes him so dangerous again this year. With the titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome he again left the competition behind him and underpinned his status as sand court king.

Attacking, almost error-free and as always highly motivated, Nadal will be the one to beat. The Mallorcan is on his way to celebrate his eleventh triumph in France’s capital.

Nadal’s mybet winning rate: 1.40

Besides Nadal, Alexander Zverev is considered a hot potato in the fire. No other player celebrated more victories on the tour this year than the 21-year-old (30-8). With the titles in Munich and the coup at the Masters in Madrid – in both he rushed to the title without losing a set – the German enters the tournament as number two in the seed list and can only meet Nadal in the final.

In his current form, Zverev can defeat any player and will make a new attempt at the first major title in Roland Garros. With better omens than ever.

Zverev’s mybet winning rate: 8.0

Nadal and Zverev are followed by a whole series of players with surprise potential. One of them is Dominic Thiem, who has regained his form in recent weeks. The “Dominator” is the only player who beat Nadal this season and made it to the Madrid finals.

With more self-confidence and his aggressive playing style, the Lower Austrian feels the yellow felt ball again and produced one highlight after the other.

In Paris Thiem could be at the top and with a lucky draw is a candidate for the round of the best four. Or maybe even more?

Thiems mybet winning rate: 9.50

Novak Djokovic will be a miracle bag. The 2016 champion continues to work on his form after his comeback and showed in Rome that he is to be reckoned with. For Djokovic it will be essential to get a good draw and time for an acclimatization period for five set matches. If the “Djoker” is fit, the fans in Paris will have a lot of fun with the Serbian and can hope for a duel between the giants and Nadal.

Novak’s mybet winning rate: 11.0

Juan Martín del Potro can also intervene in the poker game for the Coupe des Mousquetaires in Paris. Although the red ash is not the Argentinian’s favourite surface, the competition should be warned. “I look forward to Paris and will do my best. Playing on sand isn’t good for my body, but I dosed my strength,” explained DelPo before the tournament in Madrid.

In Rome, del Potro had to give up in the first round, but shortly afterwards gave the all-clear that it was not an injury of the permanently loaded wrist.

If the “Tower of Tandil” feels comfortable on the underground in Paris, the sympathetic giant can do anything.

Del Potros mybet winning rate: 35.0

A name should not be missing from the list: David Goffin. The Belgian plays a great ball on sand and can do a lot of damage with his backhand. However, it is not enough for the big coup.

Goffin’s mybet winning rate: 35.0

Behind it, the field is getting tighter. Marin Cilic and Grigor Dimitrov are two players who are not high on the favourites list. The competition is too strong for that. Dimitrov has the potential, but can only access it in doses. For Cilic, the big stage on sand isn’t really adapted to his playing. In order to go far, Dimitrov and Cilic have to hope for a big mistake from the top favourites.

Cilic’ mybet winning rate: 35.0

Dimitrov’s mybet winning rate: 50.0

For 2015 winner Stan Wawrinka the French Open will come too early. With his long break, the Swiss will have to pay tribute to the speed of his opponents and will have nothing to do with the title fight.

Wawrinkas mybet winning rate: 40.0
