Peter Gojowczyk lost the final at the ATP tournament in Geneva. There the German was clearly defeated in two sets by the Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.
Gojowczyk’s second ATP final in 2018 could not have gotten off to a worse start. Gojo” was down 4-0 after just a few minutes and had to give in to Fucsovics’ fresh game.
The Hungarian played fast, with a lot of self-confidence and had the action on the court under control. Gojowczyk seemed restrained and could not use his dangerous basic blows, which had carried him throughout the week.
After only 33 minutes a deserved 6:2 was on the scoreboard for Fucsovics.
In the second set Gojowczyk found his way into the match better and was able to get through his service games without great problems. However, Fucsovics seemed fresher and increased again in the middle of the second round.
Gojo” could not withstand the pressure from Hungary and had to accept two breaks in a row. After just over an hour of play Fucsovics turned the match point into a 6-2 and 6-2 title win.
It is the first ATP title ever for the man from Hungary.
