Johanna Larsson has won the WTA-Turner in Nuremberg. In the final of the Nuremberg Insurance Cup, the Swede beat Alison Riske in two sets.
Right from the start Larsson had the final under control and confirmed the great form she had worked her way through the entire tournament week.
The Swede quickly took the break and 2-1 lead against the American, but had to accept the immediate re-break. After that a close game developed and the first round was decided in the tiebreak.
Both players did not appear to be constant in their own service and Larsson won the set one 7-4 in the tiebreak with a back and forth with the better end.
The second set was then clearly in the direction of the Swede, who made consistent use of her opportunities. However, Riske did not give up and, after a break, won two service games in a row for her opponent.
However, the American could not bring the advantage over time and paid tribute to the strenuous tournament week. Larsson increased once more, grabbed two breaks and finally served out to win 7:6 (4) and 6:4.
For the world number 97, victory is the second title in her career.
