French Open: Peter Gojowczyk gives up in Paris

Peter Gojowczyk (28) has paid dearly to reach the final in Geneva. In the first round of the French Open in Paris, the Munich-based player gave up to British player Cameron Norrie after only 41 minutes at a score of 1:6, 0:2.

Gojowczyk was treated on his right thigh after the first set, which had already caused him problems during the preparation tournament in Switzerland.

For Gojowczyk, the premiere in Roland Garros’ main field ended with disappointment. After the Round of 16 at the Masters in Rome and the final in Geneva, the World Rankings 43rd was confident to Paris, where he had previously always been eliminated in qualifying in six attempts.

Before Gojowczyk, Lucky Loser had already lost Oscar Otte on Sunday. Alexander Zverev (No. 2) is the only German out of eight German players in the second round.
