French Open: Williams sisters continue in doubles

Tennis superstar Serena Williams also reached the second round in doubles with her sister Venus during her Grand Slam comeback at the French Open in Paris.

On the day after the 36-year-old’s opening success against Czech Kristyna Pliskova, the siblings won against the Japanese duo Shuko Aoyama/Miyu Kato 2:6, 6:4, 6:1.

The Williams sisters have already won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals. The Americans had played their last doubles match together with a major in Wimbledon in 2016. Serena Williams is in Roland Garros for the first time since the end of her 13-month baby break around the birth of her daughter Alexis Olympia at a Grand Slam tournament.
