French Open: Madison Key’s first semi-finalist

Madison Keys reaches the semi-finals of the French Open for the first time in her career: The American defeated Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan in two sets in the first quarter-finals.

It was tighter than expected – but after 84 minutes Madison Keys celebrated her next big success at a Grand Slam tournament. 7:6 (4), 6:4, so the final result in the first match on the court Suzanne Lenglen against Yulia Putintseva, that means for Keys the second semi-final in her last three majors. At the US Open she even went one step further, in the final she lost to her countrywoman and friend Sloane stephens.

Keys could meet them in Paris in the semifinal round: Stephens was to play the women’s second quarter-finals on Philippe Chatrier’s court on Tuesday. Against the Russian Daria Kasatkina, who defeated Caroline Wozniacki in second place in the round of 16.
