NBA: Durant wants to stay with the Warriors: “Just a few more details”.

Kevin Durant wants to stay with the Golden State Warriors. After laying low a few days ago, the final MVP now declared that he definitely wanted to stay in the Bay Area. I guess it’s just a matter of negotiating details.

“I plan to stay with the Warriors,” said Durant in an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols. “We will do the rest later,” he added, adding that only “small details” are still to be negotiated.

Durant is likely to become a free agent in the summer, as it has been decided that he will leave his contract on July 1. In 2017 KD had signed for another two years and 51 million dollars, leaving around 10 million on the table.

This allowed the Warriors to extend their other free agents like Andre Iguodala or Shaun Livingston, now Durant should get a more lucrative contract.

The final MVP could sign a four-year, $158 million Max deal, but could also accept a similar 1+1 contract as last year. In these finals Durant has averaged 31.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists.
