WTA: Second appearance: Maria Sharapova can be seen in the new “Ocean’s 8” movie

Maria Sharapova has made the jump to the cinema screen. The Russian can be seen in a guest appearance of the blockbuster “Ocean’s 8”. The former world number one did not know for a long time whether her short scene would not still become a victim of the cutting scissors.

Comfort for Maria Sharpova after the 2:6, 1:6 quarter-final shame at the French Open against Garbine Muguruza (Spain/No. 3). The 31-year-old will be featured in a short scene in the thriller “Ocean’s 8” by director Gary Ross.

“The scene made it into the movie! Go to the cinema as quickly as possible,” Sharapova twittered and embedded a tweet showing a screenshot of the five-time major winner’s performance.

In the USA, the film, which tells of a team of master thieves and in which Sandra Bullock plays as Debbie Ocean, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna, among others, has already started on Friday. Fans in Germany have to wait until June 21.

Sharapova, who launched her autobiography “Unstoppable” last year and created her own confectionery line (“Sugarpova”), is now also present in Hollywood. At least in small format.

At the beginning of the year, the three-time winner of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix of Stuttgart talked about her impressions during the shooting of the blockbuster. “Working with the director was very nice, and I was among very talented people. It was another experience, very different from what I usually do. I enjoy such things,” said the Californian, who lives in the film metropolis Los Angeles.

At that time Sharapova was still wondering whether her scene would make it into the film. “If I’m listed in the credits, that would be a good sign,” she said back then.
