French Open: Czech Siniakova/Krejcikova win double title

Katerina Siniakova and Barbora Krejcikova from the Czech Republic won the double at the French Open in Paris.

The two 22-year-olds beat the Japanese duo Eri Hozumi/Makoto Ninomiya 6-3, 6-3 in Sunday’s final and won their first Grand Slam title. Siniakova and Krejcikova were seeded in sixth place and lived up to their favourite position on the court Philippe Cahaztier.

Germany’s best doubles player Anna-Lena Grönefeld (Nordhorn) and her partner Raquel Atwo (USA/No. 11) were eliminated in round two against the two unseeded Japanese players.
