With 50 players from 26 different WTV clubs, this year’s Vienna “Outdoor” National Championships took place yesterday, Monday. The tournament is hosted by UTC La Ville, where those responsible and active once again find perfect conditions for a hopefully successful event. The 2018 edition is also regarded in the scene as a “turning point” out of a dusty and encrusted tournament landscape at association level. 36 of the 50 participants of this HTT-Masters- 1000 rated tournament are HTT-Aces, and exactly on these guys we will focus the coverage of the coming tournament week. The 2018 Vienna Provincial Championships started with a 32-hole grid, and reports from UTC La Ville for hobbytennistour.at C.L

The 2-time HTT Major winner Fabian Mayrhuber, AZ super talent Nico Mucic and TC Strebersdorf newcomer Marcus Schischlik are only one step away from participating in the high-calibre main competition of the Vienna State Championships. A really hard piece of work became the qualifying prelude however for the highly favored Fabian Mayrhuber, who could bring down the 16-year-old Alen Karabegovic equipped with association license and ITN-technically severely misjudged in three sets with 6:2, 2:6, 6:2. In the qualifying final, WAC veteran Marcus Schischlik, who beat WAT Ottakring young star Julian Lockl 6:0, 6:3, is now waiting for him. Young star Nico Mucic is also already in one of the four qualifying finals. The 15-year-old talent from AZ Tennisclub played his whole class against Roman Fischer and won the night session of the first day of the match under floodlight at the centre court with 6:0 and 6:3.

TC Strebersdorf-young star Klaus Klune also left a strong impression on the first matchday of the “Landes”, who made the “East-West summit” in round 1 of the qualification with Markus Göbel of TC Blau Weiss a one-sided and 6:1, 6:0 won history. Felix Paucz from TC Meidling (6:1, 6:2) against Boris Kovacevic and Marcel Weigl also won their tickets for the second qualifying round in a very confident manner. The Racketlon president underlined his skills with the tennis racket in his hands and outclassed young star Benno Link of SC Hakoah with a double zero. However, the two HTT juniors Julian Lockl and Marcel Heeger fought the toughest fight of the first matchday at the start of the qualifiers. The latter had the better start with 6:2, before Lockl with 6:4, 6:3 his meanwhile also fighting qualities into the scales, and the friendly duel after just under two hours had won.
