ATP: Rudi Molleker eliminated last year’s winner Lucas Pouille

Rudi Molleker missed the quarter-finals at the ATP grass court tournament in Stuttgart. The youngster lost 3:6, 4:6 against the Frenchman Lucas Pouille in two sets.

After Molleker celebrated his first ever victory on the ATP Tour against Jan-Lennard Struff on Monday, the number two of the tournament was too strong on Wednesday.

Pouille served a total of ten aces and won almost 90 percent of the points he opened with the first serve. Molleker kept up well at the beginning of each set, but had to take a decisive break in the sixth game of the first and ninth game of the second set.

After only 51 minutes, Pouille was the winner. In the first of two grass court events in Germany he will now meet Denis Istomin, who beat Florian Mayer in two sets in his round of 16.

Prior to that, Istomin had already taken Philipp Kohlschreiber, another German, out of the tournament.
