Angelique Kerber has got herself in the mood for the Mallorca Open starting next week. On the holiday island the two-time Grand Slam winner met with an old friend – Ana Ivanovic.
“You always have a good time with true friends,” Kerber wrote next to the photo at Instagram. She also used the hashtags “Dinner” and “Friendsforever”. Ivanovic, who ended her career at the end of 2016 and now lives in Chicago with her husband Bastian Schweinsteiger and their son, also posted the picture.
Kerber is preparing for the $250,000 Santa Ponsa Turf on Sun Island, which will also be used by Carolina Garcia (France), Victoria Azarenka (Belarus) and Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland) as preparation for Wimbledon (from July 2).
Before the start in the lawn Mecca on Church Road, Kerber, the driving force behind the Mallorca Open, will be competing in the British Eastbourne (from 25 June). At the French Open, the 30-year-old failed in the quarter-finals in three sets against the later tournament winner Simona Halep (Romania/No. 1).
Kerber and Ivanovic (30) have been friends for many years. The Kiel native was also invited to the wedding of the Serbian French Open winner of 2008 with soccer world champion Schweinsteiger almost two years ago in Venice.
