WTA: Simona Halep injured – Cancellation for grass court tournament in Eastbourne

Simona Halep has withdrawn her promise to start next week’s grass court tournament in Eastbourne and is taking a tournament break before Wimbledon. However, the Romanian wants to be fit again for the third Grand Slam tournament of the year in Wimbledon.

“I’m very sorry to have to withdraw from next week’s tournament,” Halep said on Twitter. “My doctors have advised me to continue to rest during my therapy.”

On the way to her first victory at the French Open, the 26-year-old world ranking first has contracted an inflammation of the Achilles tendon and wants to cure it.

Halep had been dragging the problems at her foot since the Australian Open and therefore also had to withdraw at the Qatar Open.

Halep has never reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon in the last three years and will try to improve her record in the turf classic at the beginning of July.
