WTA: Aryna Sabalenka defeated defending champion Karolina Pliskova in Eastbourne

Aryna Sabalenka has continued her triumphant progress at the WTA Premier Tournament in Eastbourne: The young Belarusian defeated defending champion Karolina Pliskova in three sets and is already in the semi-finals.

Sabalenka had thrown Julia Görges out of the tournament in round two, despite a set and break deficit. She played Pliskova in second place in Eastbourne and needed 2:12 hours to enter the semi-finals after 6:3, 2:6 and 7:6 (5).

There Sabalenka will meet Agnieszka Radwanska on Friday, who beat the French Open winner of 2017, Jelena Ostapenko, 6-2, 7-5.

Angelique Kerbers match was scheduled as the last quarter-final against Daria Kasatkina later in the afternoon.
