Rafael Nadal won his opening game against Dudi Sela in Wimbledon. The Spaniard, seeded second on Church Road, defeated Dudi Sela from Israel 6:3, 6:3 and 6:2.
If there were or still are questions about the lawn shape of Rafael Nadal in 2018: Dudi Sela is not the man who could have answered them. Even though the Israeli fought back for 110 minutes before Nadal left the Centre Court in Wimbledon as the 6:3, 6:3, 6:2 winner.
The last match Nadal seriously played was the final of the French Open against Dominic Thiem. That’s exactly what the Spaniard had won as confidently as his encounter with Sela. The first of the world rankings had renounced a preparation tournament, his nomination for the London Queen´s Club was withdrawn late.
Five times during the match Nadal lost Sela’s serve, the number 127 of the world could only counter once. The task in round two will probably be a little more difficult for Rafael Nadal: He will face the winner of the game between Mikhail Kukushkin and Vasek Posipil. The Kazakh played well in Eastbourne last week and made it to the semi-finals, while Pospisil is a man who can play his best on grass.
