Wimbledon: Djokovic throws British hope Edmund out of the tournament

Former series winner Novak Djokovic has kicked the British hopeful Kyle Edmund out of the competition at the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon.

The Serb won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in the third round on Saturday evening and Djokovic turned his first match point after 2-66 hours. In the round of 16, the three-time Wimbledon winner will now face Karen Khachanov (Russia).

After the cancellation of two-time champion Andy Murray, who had not yet felt ready for a Grand Slam tournament after a lengthy knee injury, 23-year-old Edmund (No. 21) had been the most promising British participant in the field. Now all British starters, both women and men, have been eliminated before the round of 16.
