Wimbledon: Halep also fails: Next favourite fall by Hsieh Su-Wei

The top seeded Simona Halep continued the memorable series of favourite falls in Wimbledon. The French Open winner from Romania lost surprisingly in the third round against Hsieh Su-Wei 6:3, 4:6, 5:7.

This means that nine of the top 10 seedings have already been eliminated before the second week. Only the Czech Karolina Pliskova (number seven) has reached the round of 16. After all, Halep will remain the world’s number one after Caroline Wozniacki’s early retirement from the Wimbledon tournament.

The women’s field has thus become even more open. After Pliskova Angelique Kerber is the highest ranked player in the tableau, the German number one will play Naomi Osaka from Japan on Saturday.

Serena Williams is also still represented in the competition. The American will meet Russian qualifier Evgeniya Rodina on Monday.

Here the single tableau of the ladies in Wimbledon
