Wimbledon: Jan-Lennard Struff missed by three lost tiebreaks double semi-finals

Jan-Lennard Struff and his doubles partner Ben McLachlan were eliminated in the quarter-finals of the tournament in Wimbledon. In a close match Struff/McLachlan lost Joe Salisbury and Frederik Nielsen in four sets.

The match between the German-Japanese doubles and the British-Danish duet could not have been tighter.

The first round went 7:6 (6) to Salisbury and Nielsen. However, Struff and his partner McLachlan did not get up and fought back. One break was enough for the Australian Open semi-finalists to equalize the sets 6-4.

In sets three and four, however, it became clear that the Briton and the Dane on the other side had the better nerves and won the match with two further tiebreaks. Set three lost Struff/McLachlan 2:7 and set four 4:7 in the tiebreak.

This means that the German-Japanese pair misses the second semi-final of a Grand Slam 2018.
