Wimbledon: Serena Williams fights her way into the semi-finals with courage

Serena Williams reached the semi-finals of the Grand Slam classic in Wimbledon despite losing her first set. The American beat Camilla Giorgi.

The number 25 seeded 23-time major winner won against the world rankings 52nd Giorgi in the last eight round 3:6, 6:3, 6:4, next opponent of Williams is Julia Görges, who beat Kiki Bertens in three sets.

In the first four rounds Williams, who is competing in the oldest tennis tournament in the world for the first time after her 13-month baby break, had beaten Bulgarian Wiktorija Tomowa, Dutch Arantxa Rus, French Kristina Mladenovic and Yevgenia Rodina (Russia) in two sets.

The winner of 2015 and 2016 won 19 matches in a row in Wimbledon. Giorgi would have been the first Italian ever to reach the semi-finals in 134 years in the turf Mecca of London.
