Two years ago Angelique Kerber and Serena Williams faced each other in the Wimbledon final. On July 9, 2016, the German lost 5:7, 3:6.

Kerber had to fend off three break chances from Williams in their service game, but was at eye level in the attractive baseline duels.

Williams was stable in her own service. In a 6-5 lead, she used her second set ball with strong nerves after 46 minutes. The American convinced above all by her strong service play, Kerbers first and only break chance fended off was at the conditions of 3:3 typically with an Ace. Williams then managed the decisive break for 5-3.

Serena Williams has held the upper hand in previous encounters. The American won six of the eight games against Kerber at a set ratio of 13:4.
