Wimbledon: Kerber finale on Saturday on Free TV

Thanks to the final entry of Angelique Kerber in Wimbledon, Tennis Germany can choose: The final will be shown on ZDF as well as Sky.

Following the outcome of the semi-finals, ZDF has reached a short-term sublicensing agreement.

“We are delighted that all tennis fans in Germany have the chance to follow a possible Wimbledon triumph of Angelique Kerber live on free TV on Saturday”, DTB President Ulrich Klaus is quoted in a DTB report. “The fact that ZDF, a public broadcaster, has acquired sublicenses for the live broadcast of this special game, underlines the growing importance of tennis in Germany.

Klaus also praised the extensive Wimbledon broadcast by Sky. “Sky has established itself as a Wimbledon station for many years – and offers high-quality coverage. A daily broadcast on this scale would not be possible for any public broadcaster in today’s media landscape.”

The final between Kerber and Williams starts on Saturday at 3pm CEST. It is the new edition of the 2016 Wimbledon Final: Williams won in two sets.
