Laver Cup: So every year

After the successful start last year, Roger Federer and Co. now want to stage the Laver Cup differently than planned.

Do you remember the awesome match for the first Laver Cup in Prague? Roger Federer defeated Nick Kyrgios in the last top singles match tiebreak and thus secured victory for “Team Europe” against “Team World”.

Now the organizers around Tony Godsick and Roger Federer want to make the Laver Cup an annual event – the original idea was to cancel the Laver Cup in years with the Olympic Games.

As a result of the great success of Prague, the great interest of the players, the great spectators and the feedback from the marketers for the next edition in Chicago, the next step in the expansion is to be taken, said Steve Zacks, CEO of the Laver Cup. “There’s no need to take a year off.”

This year’s edition in Chicago will take place from September 21 to 23. Novak Djokovic and Juan Martin del Potro will also be there for the first time.
