WTA: Mona Barthel eliminated in Gstaad round of 16

Former top-20 player Mona Barthel (Neumünster) has been eliminated in the round of 16 at the WTA sand court tournament in Gstaad. The 28-year-old lost to Russian Yevgenia Rodina after 1:56 hours with 4:6, 6:2, 5:7.

Tamara Korpatsch (Hamburg) is the last German to reach the round of 16. The Hamburg native will play her first-round match against number seven seeded Swiss Stefanie Vögele early Wednesday evening. Antonia Lottner (Düsseldorf) and Carina Witthöft (Hamburg) lost their first round matches on Tuesday.
