ATP Challenger: Maggots and Otte in quarter-finals, Kuhn out of the game

Yannick Maden and Oscar Otte are in the quarter-finals of the Challenger tournament in Scheveningen. Nicola Kuhn, on the other hand, had to retire in the second round.

For the top seeded Yannick Maden, everything is still going according to plan at the clay court tournament in the Netherlands. In the second round, the 28-year-old did not give his compatriot Marvin Netuschil, who was one year younger, the slightest chance of winning 6:3 and 6:1, and thus confidently entered the final eight.

The number 132 in the tennis world rankings will face Hungary’s Attila Balazs, who defeated Nicola Kuhn 6-3 and 6-4 in the next round. The former giant talent of the DTB, who is now competing for Spain, was unable to take advantage of any of his three break opportunities and finally had to admit defeat after only 80 minutes of play.

Meanwhile, Oscar Otte, seeded four, was able to live up to his role as favourite in his second round encounter. In the match of the day, Cologne-born Botic Van de Zandschulp defeated the local hero after a hard-fought first set 7-6 (1) and 6-4. 25 year-old Belgian Kimmer Coppejans is now waiting for him in the quarter-finals.
