ATP: Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic in Hamburg sovereign in round two

Good start for Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Hamburg: The Styrian and the Croatian defeated the Argentines Die Schwartzman and Leonardo Mayer in two sets.

It took 72 minutes for Marach and Pavic, who are in first place at the German Open, to finish the 6:3 and 6:4. The favourites started with a break, which they managed until the end of the first set. The second act started with the only break against Marach/Pavic – the leaders in the Doubles Race to London beat back twice.

In round two the Austrian-Croatian pairing now meets either Inglot/Skugor or Paire/Roger-Vasselin.

Dominic Thiem and Jürgen Melzer have already dropped out, beating Jan-Lennard Struff and Ben Mclachlan twice in the tiebreak. Alexander Peya and partner Nikola Maektic also had to say goodbye after a two-set defeat against Marrero/Qureshi.
