ATP: Only three games: Peter Gojowczyk with bitter opening bankruptcy in Hamburg

For Peter Gojowczyk the German Open at Rothenbaum in Hamburg was over after only 52 minutes. After a disappointing performance, the 29-year-old man from Munich lost 6-1, 2-6 to the unset Chilean Nicolas Jarry in the first round.

With midsummer temperatures, the number 44 in the world rankings never came into play and was virtually without a chance from the very first minute. The 22-year-old South American will face a Frenchman, either Richard Gasquet or Benoit Paire, in the round of 16.

Jan-Lennard Struff (against John Millman) and Philipp Kohlschreiber (against Nikoloz Basilashvili) will play their first-round matches on Tuesday, as will top seed Dominic Thiem (against Corentin Moutet).
