ATP: After Molleker-Aus – No more Germans in Hamburg

Rudi Molleker has been eliminated at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Hamburg. The 17-year-old German lost to Jozef Kovalik from Slovakia in two sets.

The quarter-final matches at the German Open 2018 in Hamburg will take place without German participation: Rudi Molleker, who had defeated former champion David Ferrer in three sets, lost after only 52 minutes against Jozef Kovalik after a 4-6 and 0-6 defeat.

After Daniel Masur had already lost against the second seeded Diego Schwartzman with 2:6, 2:6 in the match before, no German representatives are represented under the last eight in Hamburg.

Molleker could not match his performance against Ferrer, especially in rallies that started with his second serve: only 20 percent of those points were won by Molleker.

In the interview after the match, the 17-year-old also spoke plain language: He would simply have played badly, right from the start. Moreover, Kovalik would have served well. Now we would have a few days to relax at home, after that the next tasks are waiting.
