ATP: Mischa Zverev in Atlanta round of 16

Mischa Zverev has reached the round of 16 after a hard fight at the ATP tournament in Atlanta.

The seventh-placed Hamburg player won 6:3, 6:7 (8:10), 6:3 on hard court after 2:37 hours against the American local hero Tim Smyczek. Left-handed Mischa Zverev reaches eleven aces at the “AJC Grandstand”.

Again and again the 30-year-old worked his way through break chances (17 !!!!), of which he took advantage of five. He only served his own serve once.

The world ranking-45th Zverev, the only German in Atlanta/Georgia, will face Mikhail Yushni on Wednesday (local time) in the round of the last 16. The 36-year-old Russian announced at the end of the 748,450 dollar event that he would end his career at the end of the season.

Top seeded in the Olympic city of 1996 in the US state of Georgia is local hero John Isner (USA), who has won the title four times in Atlanta in the past five years. Only Nick Kyrgios (Australia) “sparked” between the serve giants in 2016.
