ATP: Struff in Hamburg into the double semi-finals with strong nerves

After all, the hope of a German success at the German Open 2018 is alive in doubles: Jan-Lennard Struff and his Japanese partner Ben McLachlan have qualified for the semi-finals.

Just when Struff and McLachlan really got going, the rain started over the Rothenbaum in Hamburg. And so at 2-1 for the German-Japanese pairing in the match tiebreak a short rain break followed – from which Struff and McLachlan came back so strongly that they set their quarter-final against Jean-Julien Rojer and Ivan Dodig in second place in Hamburg, finally winning 6-7 (12), 6-1 and 10-8.

In round one, the Australian Open semi-finalists defeated the Austrian pairing Jürgen Melzer and Dominic Thiem twice in the tiebreak.

Their opponents do not know Struff/Mclachlan yet: Either it goes against Pablo Cuevas and Marc Lopez, who gave Philipp Petzschner and Tim Pütz no chance. Or against the winner of the Klizan/Kovalik match against Peralta/Zeballos.

Here the double tableau in Hamburg
