Shock for the new Wimbledon winner Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena: According to the AP news agency, the Serbian’s grandfather was found tied up in a field near his home in Belgrade on Thursday morning.
Novak Djokovic’s press team announced in a statement published on Thursday: The family is “completely under shock” because of the events. Jelena Djokovic’s grandfather, Miloslav Radisavljevic, is 85 years old and is said to have been kidnapped from his house about 50 kilometres from the gates of Belgrade and then left tied up.
According to several online portals (including the New York Post) referring to the news agency, Radisavljevic was found in a field after breaking into his house in Ljig. They say he was tied to a power pole. The police confirmed the course of events – without naming the identity of the man.
The man found is said to have told the officers that he was attacked by two masked robbers. They would have stolen his cell phone and 220 euros. The man did not have any external injuries when the security guards arrived, the police further reported.
