John McEnroe is one of the best players of all time and continues to compete in the world’s biggest tournaments years after his career ended. Now the living tennis legend gets its own documentary.
Only one year after the movie “Borg vs McEnroe”, in which the close rivalry between Björn Borg and John McEnroe is portrayed, a new film with McEnroe as the main character will start this August.
The focus is on McEnroe’s best season. The year 1984 was dominated by the American at will and is considered to be one of the most impressive seasons a player has ever played.
Filmmaker Julien Faraut has taken up this topic and will release the McEnroe documentary “In The Realm Of Perfection” in August.
What is particularly exciting is that Faraut got access to many 16-millimeter film reels from the 1984 French Open and incorporated them into his documentary. Original recordings show the dramatic Paris final between McEnroe and Ivan Lendl, which the Czech won 3:6, 2:6, 6:4, 7:5 and 7:5 and McEnroe caused the first defeat of that season.
