At the 18th stage, Frenchman Arnaud Demare of Team Groupama-FDJ secured his first stage victory ahead of his compatriot Christophe Laporte.
Over a distance of 200 kilometres, six mountain classifications and almost 5,000 vertical metres have to be completed on the 19th stage.
With Lourdes as the starting point, twelve kilometres of the Col d’Aspin, 16.8 kilometres of the Col du Tourmalet and over 7.1 kilometres of the Col du Soulor await the drivers. After the last summit, the Col d’Aubisque, the downhill specialists can also score points at 20 kilometres downhill to Laruns.

For the fifth time in a row there have been no changes to the jerseys. As long as Peter Sagan reaches the finish line of the final stage, the green jersey cannot be taken away from him. Despite handicaps Sagan was able to convince in the decisive final sprint on stage 18 and secured eighth place on stage 18.
