WTA: Top seeded Görges fail in Moscow

Wimbledon semi-finalist Julia Görges (29) has been eliminated from the WTA tournament in Moscow. The tennis player from Bad Oldesloe had to admit defeat to Olga Danilovic from Serbia after 1:17 hours 3:6, 3:6 in the quarter-finals. Only 17-year-old Danilovic, Lucky Loser in the main draw, used her third match point.

For them it is the first semi-final on the WTA tour ever.

This means that from a German perspective only Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) is still represented at the 750,000 dollar sand court tournament in the Russian capital. The 30-year-old will face Tamara Zidansek from Slovenia in the quarter-finals.
