ATP: Rain stops Alexander Zverev in Washington

Alexander Zverev was stopped by rain during his first appearance in Washington. At the time of the interruption Zverev led against Malek Jaziri with 6:2.

The title defense mission at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament in Washington has started somewhat bumpy for Alexander Zverev – not because the German number one left wishes unfulfilled in a playful way, but because the weather in Washington is putting a spoke in the wheel for players and fans.

After Zverev took a 3-0 lead over Malek Jaziri from Tunisia, the match had to be interrupted for the first time, after winning the first set 6-2 rain set in. Well past one o’clock local time. The sequel will probably take place on Wednesday.

Stan Wawrinka’s comeback efforts had already suffered another setback in the afternoon: Donald Young from the USA lost 4:6, 7:6 (5) and 6:7 (3) to the three-time Swiss Grand Slam Champion.
